FAST CAR ~ A Night Time Drive Lapse
There was a time when I found myself watching lots of time lapse video's on YouTube. I was fascinated by them and how many of them drew the viewer right in, by simply speeding up a video. I went on to create my own time lapses, which were mostly shot at night, although I did try some day time shoots with a GoPro action cam. Amongst the YouTube video's was a time lapse of a car journey, shot form inside the car. Again, I was drawn in and found the whole thing quite inspirational, so I decided to have a go at it myself.
I used a GoPro Hero 5 (Black Edition), connected to a carbon fibre tripod and jammed in between the front and rear seats of my Vauxhall Insignia (a car that has been replaced several times over). Shooting continuously at 2 second intervals, I captured my car journey to my workplace, from Houghton-le-Spring to Washington (Tyne & Wear, not Washington DC, USA !!) It was a fifteen minute journey in the dark and the result is shown here. Nothing spectacular, by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm quite pleased with it and it deserves a page of its own here at ashleycorr.com.
