Hello and welcome to the least interesting page on my website.
Based in Houghton le Spring, Tyne & Wear ((UK), it's an ideal location to explore all that the North-East of England has to offer, including stunning coastline and landscape, as well as top notch Indian takeaways. Gone are the days of cloth caps and whippets!
My photographic roots sprouted in the early 80's when I received my first SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, as a Christmas present. I recall the moment fondly - a catalogue purchase with an agreed repayment of £1 per week, which funded by my mother. The camera was a Russian built Zenith EL model, which, at the time, was certainly no big hitter in the camera world, but it was a good starting point that quickly developed into a hobby. Between 1985 and 2002 there were barren years, when I stepped back from photography altogether, to concentrate on all those other things that life throws at you. In 2003, the digital revolution rekindled my interest in all things photography. Gone were the rolls of film and transparency, to be replaced with memory cards and a kit bag full of goodies, including my first Digial SLR.
It quickly became apparent that this second coming wasn't going to be a passing phase, as I reaquianted myself in the technique and art of photography. I also found myself learning from magazines, books and the fantastic wealth of resource on the internet. I am completely self taught, and after many years of 'clicking away', I am still learning, which is half the fun!
I enjoy uploading my latest images to ashleycorr.com, my online portfolio that I built myself, with no previous knowledge of web design. It's a body of work that I'm very proud of and my website is the mainstay of all my photography work, which also includes printing, framing, slideshows, videography and time lapse, amongst others.
My photography has been published on book covers, magazines, brochures, CD booklets and leaflets, as well as appearing on local and national television channels. To me, photography is a labour of love and almost therapeutic at times. I feel very fortunate to live in a picturesque part of the UK, where the North-East coastline and countryside are such an inspiration. Every season has something new to offer and it's here on ashleycorr.com that I bring you those moments in time that I have captured from behind the camera.
Enjoy!
Ash
